Still without a job, Hope Solo has a new shoulder

The former U.S. goalkeeper announced on Facebook that she had surgery on Tuesday (Sept. 27) to replace her right shoulder socket with an artificial one.

“For the first time in years, I can raise my right arm above my head,” wrote 35-year-old Hope Solo. “I’m filled with excitement knowing how life-changing this is and I look forward to coming back healthier and stronger than ever.”

It remains unclear what she might come back to. She’s no longer under contract with U.S. Soccer, which suspended her after the Olympics, and she chose not to remain with her club team, the Seattle Reign, after her suspension from the national team.
