In the run-up to the 2016 Summer Olympics, NBC has produced a series of short online profiles of athletes who will represent the United States. You can find them by poking around on NBC’s Rio Olympics site.

Today: “Who is … Morgan Brian?

Here are a few things you might not know about the poised young star:

• She was a standout at the University of Virginia, the first player in that school’s history to record 40 goals and 40 assists.

•  She was the fourth woman to win back-to-back MAC Hermann Trophies.  In that, she’s in stout company. The others were Mia Hamm (1992-93), Cindy Parlow (1997-98), and Christine Sinclair (2004-05).

•  She made her international debut in 2013.

•  The youngest member of the 2015 U.S. World Cup team, she played in six of the team’s seven games en route to the championship.
