USA Today caught up with Carli Lloyd at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida, where she was a VIP guest at the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship.
Lloyd said she’s enjoyed making promotional appearances since the World Cup, in part because they draw attention to women’s soccer. But it’s time, she added, to think about 2016 and the Rio Olympics.
“There’s only so much celebration you can do after a World Cup.,” she said.
Lloyd also talked about how the U.S. team will be different with the retirement of Abby Wambach, Lauren Holiday, Shannon Boxx, and Lori Chalupny — so far.
